How to Choose School Holiday Sports Camps in the GCC

School holiday camps keep children active, social, and engaged during breaks. Here's what to look for when choosing one.

Full-day vs half-day camps

Full-day camps (typically 08:00–15:00 or 08:00–17:00) suit working parents. Half-day camps (08:00–12:00 or 09:00–13:00) are better for younger children who tire easily. Check whether lunch is provided or packed separately.

Single-sport vs multi-sport

Single-sport camps deliver intensive technical development and suit children who are already passionate about one sport. Multi-sport camps are ideal for younger children or those still exploring what they love — they'll try football, swimming, tennis, gymnastics, and more in one week.

Timing across the GCC calendar

Key holiday periods for camps in the GCC: Eid Al Fitr break (varies by year), Eid Al Adha break, Qatar and UAE National Day period, winter school break (late December), and summer (June–August). Summer camps often run very early (07:00–10:00) to avoid peak heat.

What to check before booking

  • Minimum and maximum age for the camp
  • Coach-to-child ratio (maximum 1:10 for sports camps)
  • Whether indoor facilities are available for summer heat
  • Cancellation policy if your child is unwell
  • What's included (kit, lunch, certificate, etc.)
